SMS Consent Flow
How consent is captured on the Second Start Battery line, (252) 582-7677. Last updated: 2026-09-06.
Who we are
Second Start Battery is an operating division of RegularUpkeep LLC, the legal entity that captures and holds SMS consent for all of its divisions (NCTLC, ADAMPros, Approved Property Management, Together Church, and Second Start Battery). We collect used lead-acid batteries at no charge in eastern North Carolina, test them, resell those that pass, and send the rest to a licensed recycler.
Consent to receive text messages is never a condition of a pickup, of a purchase, or of any other service we offer. Someone can have their batteries collected, or buy a battery, without ever agreeing to receive a text message.
There is no proactive texting on this line
We do not send unsolicited or automated follow-up texts to people who call or text this number. There is exactly one automated message, and it is only ever sent as a direct reply to a text the consumer sent us first.
Path 1 — You text us first (inbound-initiated)
When you start the conversation by texting (252) 582-7677, you receive one immediate automated reply. It names the brand and the parent entity, discloses message frequency and rates, and carries STOP and HELP instructions before any conversational messaging begins:
This reply is sent once, on your first inbound message only. Later messages in the conversation receive no automated reply — a person answers them. The reply is never sent in response to STOP, HELP, or any other standard opt-out or help keyword; those are handled by our carrier's standard opt-out processing.
Path 2 — You call and we ask permission
If you call and we want to send you something by text, express verbal consent is obtained on the call before any message is sent. The script is read as follows:
"Thank you for calling Second Start Battery. With your permission, may I text you at this number? Message and data rates may apply, consent is not required to use our service, and you can reply STOP at any time to opt out. Is it okay if I send that text now?"
Path 3 — The pickup request form
The pickup request form on this site collects a phone number so we can call or text you back about that specific pickup. Any consent checkbox is unticked by default, is never pre-selected, and is never required to submit the form.
What we text about
- Confirming a pickup window for batteries you asked us to collect
- Letting you know we are on the way, or running late
- Answering a question you asked us
We do not send marketing campaigns, promotions, or bulk messages on this line.
Opting out
Reply STOP to any message to stop all further texts. Reply HELP for help, or email info@secondstartbattery.com. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Mobile opt-in numbers are not shared with third parties.
